When installing the Linksys range extender, I can't find my 5 GHz network

You have selected a Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) channel on your wireless router. You then make the decision to use a Linksys range extender to extend the network.

Please follow the steps below to address this issue:

Step 1:

Verify your router's DFS certification.

NOTICE: DFS is not supported by all dual-band routers. Verizon FIOS G1100, Linksys EA9500 (EMEA versions), Apple AirPort Extreme®, WNDR3700v4, WNDR4300, and other dual-band routers are examples of devices that enable DFS.

Step 2:

Log in to the router's page if it has DFS certification. Click here to find out how to get to the page for the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router.

Step 3:

Click Wireless in the Router Settings section.

Step 4:

To determine whether the Wireless Channel is set to Auto or a DFS channel, locate the 5 GHz network section.

NOTE: DFS channels offer the 52–64 and 100–140 ranges.

Step 5: 

Change the router to channels 36-48 or 149-165 if it is currently configured to Auto or a DFS channel.

NOTE: WI-FI channels 149–165 are NOT supported in all nations.

Step 6:

To save the settings, select User-added picture or User-added image.

Step 7:

When you return to your Linksys range extender's Site Survey page or update the network list after switching the router's channel to non-DFS, you should be able to see your 5 GHz wifi routers name in the list of potential networks you can extend.
